Cut Off : Paralyzed in a Pandemic

I fell out of a tree and broke my back 22 years ago and have been processing the grief and loss from that accident ever since.  I have also been creating art for over 2 decades but have never felt comfortable making art about the grieving process until now.

The pandemic left us all feeling a sense of loss that many of my peers, of all abilities, said left them feeling paralyzed. We have been cut off from places and people we love. We have been estranged from activities that used to feel normal and natural. This involuntary detachment can leave us feeling paralyzed.

Finding this common ground between my experience with a disability and the widespread experience in a global pandemic has pushed and stretched me to create a new collection centered around the idea of being cut off.
